I was born and raised in Southeast Los Angeles, and I am proud to call Bell Gardens home. My parents always taught me the importance of giving back and never forgetting where you come from. Those values have stayed with me throughout my life and are what led me to public service. I graduated from Bell Gardens High School before earning my Bachelor's in Political Science and Master's in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. I was the first in my family to graduate from a four year university, and I know firsthand the opportunities that education can create. Today, I have the honor of serving on the Bell Gardens City Council. Over the last several years, we have accomplished a lot together. We passed some of the strongest renter protections in California to help keep families in their homes. We built and opened our new Aquatics Center, invested in our parks, and continued improving our streets and public infrastructure because our residents deserve safe and well maintained neighborhoods. Now I am ready to continue serving our communities at the Water Replenishment District. Water is life. Every family, every business, and every community depends on it. We need to protect our groundwater, invest in reliable infrastructure, prepare the next generation through educational and STEM opportunities, and make sure our communities always have a seat at the table when decisions are being made. Mi nombre es Jorgel Chavez y me enorgullece anunciar mi candidatura para la Distrito de Reabastecimiento de Agua del Sur de California División 4. Nací y crecí en el sureste de Los Ángeles, y me enorgullece llamar a Bell Gardens mi hogar. Mis padres siempre me enseñaron la importancia de servir a los demás y nunca olvidar de dónde vienes. Esos valores me han acompañado toda mi vida y son la razón por la que decidí dedicarme al servicio público. Me gradué de Bell Gardens High School antes de obtener mi Licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas y mi Maestría en Administración Pública en la Universidad del Sur de California (USC). También construimos e inauguramos nuestro nuevo Centro Acuático, invertimos en nuestros parques y continuamos mejorando nuestras calles y la infraestructura de la ciudad porque nuestros residentes merecen vecindarios seguros y bien mantenidos.
