Key Priorities

Protect Our Communities

  • Ensure our communities always have a seat at the table before major projects are approved

  • Protect our water supply from data centers and make sure residents are not stuck paying higher water costs because of them

Reliable Water Infrastructure

  • Invest in maintaining and modernizing our water infrastructure so it is ready when our communities need it most.

  • Work with local cities and fire departments to strengthen wildfire protection by ensuring hydrants and critical water infrastructure are reliable during fires and other emergencies.

  • Plan ahead instead of waiting until infrastructure fails

Job Growth/Union Apprenticeships

  • Promote good paying careers through investments in water infrastructure and local projects

  • Support local hire initiatives and encourage opportunities for residents to work on water and public infrastructure projects

  • Partner with local unions, schools, and community colleges to expand apprenticeship opportunities in the water, construction, and skilled trades industries

  • Invest in job training and STEM programs that prepare the next generation for careers in water, engineering, environmental science, and infrastructure

Revitalize the LA River

  • Support investments that improve the LA River as it flows through our communities

  • Expand opportunities to capture and recharge stormwater while creating cleaner, greener, and more accessible public spaces

  • Work with regional partners to make the LA River a place our families can enjoy for generations

Invest in Green Spaces

  • Support projects that preserve parks, community gardens, botanical gardens, and open space throughout Southeast Los Angeles

  • Promote landscaping and green infrastructure that improves water conservation and the quality of life in our neighborhoods

  • Support regional investments, including the Southeast Los Angeles Cultural Center, that strengthen our communities and connect residents to nature and the environment

Protect Our Groundwater

  • Continue investing in groundwater replenishment and protecting our local water supply

  • Support water recycling, stormwater capture, and new technologies that reduce our dependence on imported water

  • Explore additional investments in desalination as part of a long term and reliable water strategy
